PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
As part of the product unit Public Sector, Utilities and Telco Industries, the team is responsible for managing the translation of SAP products from this sector into English and German.
You will be part of a dynamic, highly motivated team, working closely with both software developers and technical writers. Our unit collaborates with international teams located in Germany, India, the USA, Canada and China.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
After thorough on-the-job training, your task will be to:

  • Translate user interface texts and documentation from English into German
  • Support the research and definition of technical and business terminology
  • Contribute to overall text quality
  • Flexibly support the translation team as required

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Student of Translation Studies (MA or BA)
  • Excellent German, excellent English
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Experience of Microsoft Office applications and computer-aided translation technologies (such as Trados Studio)
  • Translation experience in a professional context
  • Technical background and understanding of business processes would be a bonus
  • SAP experience is a major benefit

For a working student (studentische Aushilfe or Werkstudent) the following applies:

  • Maximum of 20 hours per week during semester
  • Maximum of 40 hours per week during semester vacation

Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, certificate of enrollment, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships). Please describe as well your experience and skills in foreign languages and computer programs / programming languages.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of living in an English-speaking country is a plus.
  • Translation experience and/or business experience.
