Our team in Berlin is looking for an experienced software development manager to lead an engineering team to deliver platform features and initiatives. Our platform services power AWS Management Console and AWS user experiences used by millions of customers, from individual developers to large enterprises. As an engineering leader, you will have end-to-end responsibility, from setting up a highly performing team, helping define requirements, to delivering features and product roadmap. Managers have a significant impact on our business as they contribute to the platform strategy and direction. The manager will work collaboratively with customers, engineers, product managers, designers, and executives.

Your responsibilities include:
Lead a team of software engineers in the design, development, test, deployment and operation of services.
Hire and develop engineers to establish teams to deliver features and enhancements in an agile fashion
Own the responsibility of building scalable and flexible architecture, create technical vision and maintain long-term roadmap, and deliver quality results on time.
Work closely with other AWS teams to deliver platform features that require cross-team leadership. Represent your business and operations to AWS leadership.
Regularly dive into architecture, coding practices, test plans, project plans, deployments and operations to drive excellence through your organization.
Identify bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
Contribute to the overall AWS Console Platform leadership team. You'll be part of defining our culture, ensuring our teams have everything they need to be productive and excited to work at AWS, and helping to drive site-wide initiatives that improve life for all our teams.

About the Organization
AWS User Experience Products & Platform team is responsible for products that enable AWS users to manage their applications and infrastructure on AWS. Our mission is to deliver an effective, and loved user experience that makes it easy for all users to discover, learn, and build on AWS. Today, we own the AWS Management Console, the AWS Console Mobile App, the AWS Chatbot, and the User Experience Platform used by 200+ AWS service teams to develop and deliver their user experience across multiple channels (web, mobile, chat).

The AWS User Experience Products & Platform team is a multi-disciplinary team comprising members from different areas - UX Research, UX Design, User Insights & Analytics, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Secure/Available/Scalable (at AWS scale) services, and Web/Mobile/Conversational User Interfaces. Our team is a great place for those who are passionate about building great user and developer experiences for millions of users across the globe.
