We are looking for someone who cares deeply about data protection and privacy to be responsible for improving how AWS helps customers around the world with data sovereignty. You will own a strategy for earning more trust with customers based on how AWS can help them control and protect their data through the effective use of technologies, policies and messaging. As part of a small team you will work to understand customer needs and how best AWS can solve for customer concerns and problems on data sovereignty, data protection, and privacy.

You will prioritise our customers’ needs and work closely with our public policy, marketing, legal, security assurance and engineering colleagues to develop our approach to privacy and data sovereignty to meet these needs and delight customers. You will be inventing on behalf of our customers and advocating for their data sovereignty needs with engineering teams and leadership. You are committed to following the data to prioritise action, you can drive clarity through written communication, effective meetings, and you are comfortable participating in reviews with senior business and engineering leaders.

You are passionate about working and helping the public sector and regulated industries; their successes are your successes; their failures are your failures. You will have expertise working on data protection, cyber security, or data sovereignty policy or compliance. Although this is not a sales role, you will have business development expertise, with the ability to develop and deliver messaging and drive continued customer success. While you do not have to be deeply technical, you are comfortable in technical conversations with customers to understand constraints are holding customers back and what may just be fear, uncertainty, and doubt. This role requires coordination across many internal and external teams and will be visible at the highest levels of the company and you will have a track record showing that you execute both strategically and tactically.

Key job responsibilities
We are seeking a Data Protection Consultant to help our team shape AWS’ approach to data sovereignty while ensuring high quality delivery to our customers. We are seeking a seasoned and experienced professional to do the following:

* Collaborate with customer-facing teams to understand customer challenges on a variety of use-cases
* Understand the compliance, technical, and policy issues our customers face on data sovereignty, data protection and privacy.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on data sovereignty
* Influence engineering teams’ roadmaps to prioritise delighting customers around data sovereignty
* Serve as spokesperson as needed
* Develop and influence collateral and messaging and how it helps customers

The Government Transformation Team (GTT) is the government transformation practice for AWS World Wide Public Sector (WWPS). Our mission is to accelerate modernization and reforms for international public sector customers. Customers tell us that they need to deliver great digital services for citizens and businesses and to use operational data to keep improving. GTT has built services and engagements that accelerates customers’ transformation through advising change makers, infrastructure expansion, developing software solutions, convening thought leaders, and delivering executive courses.
