Job summary
As we continue to grow our operation to serve our customer, we need to work as smart as we can, to keep all our team members safe, fulfilled, motivated and empowered. To help us achieve this, we are seeking a driven Environmental Coordinator. With a strong Bias for Action, you would need to help drive waste management and other environmental concerns as needed. Our Air Gateways are at the heart of Amazon’s rapidly growing business: they’re where our Associate teams sort packages and ship them out either on a truck or on an aircraft: each of these groups have played their part in taking us where we are today. In this crucial position, you are contact partner between Operations and Facilities/ Engineering departments, WHS and Environmental Assurance Protection. As a environmental coordinator, your day is never the same and you will be working days divided between Monday to Friday. Be prepared to work in shifts.
Primary Responsibilities
• Characterization/determination of non-hazardous, regulated non-hazardous and hazardous waste (from both inventory and facilities operations) including proper storage and segregation, containerizing, labeling, waste logs, and preparing for shipment, in accordance with country specific waste regulatory requirements.
• Physical maintenance, housekeeping, and organization of the waste storage area and all safety equipment (eye wash, spill kit, fire extinguisher, etc.), in accordance with country specific regulatory requirements, Country specific Hazardous and non-Hazardous Waste Procedure and Amazon network policies.
• Engaging and communicating with Waste Vendor to trigger waste collection – sending accumulated logs, scheduling and coordinating waste pick-ups, and follow-up on paperwork for each consignment of waste.
• Maintaining and uploading all documents to Gensuite/ Austen and Waste tracker.
• Ensure all routine waste inspection records of the area and containers are maintained – raise issues with RME, WHS and Site Leadership Team.
• Liaison with WHS teams, operations and facilities teams responsible for the proper management of hazardous chemicals and generation of wastes.
• Support in preparing monthly waste inventory and identifying the necessary waste transfer frequency to comply with accumulation requirements.
• Researching trends, inventory loss and cost reduction efforts, where applicable.
• Must be available to assist with incidental spill/leak/release clean-up activities.
• Participate in all environmental related incident investigations. Work closely with the Site Environmental Manager to drive thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective actions

Key job responsibilities

  • containerize and track all waste generated on site
  • support with spill clean up
  • liase with all departments on site
  • speak B2 English and B2 German at a minimum
