PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES 
SAP is one of the worldwide largest software companies for business software in a highly evolving and expanding market. Mainly located in Walldorf Germany, offices are spread throughout the world developing software and delivering IT services for the main international big players.
In the area of data management and exploration, one of the main problems is the integration of heterogenous data from SAP and non-SAP systems. Therefore "SAP Digital Business Services – Center of Expertise for Data Management and Analytics” is looking for a thesis student (f/m/d) ready to analyze several scenarios of data transfer, point out the challenges and differences between them as well as to evaluate use-cases for business applications.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
During the thesis the applicant (f/m/d) will work on identifying an analytical business case and realizing its implementation by using SAP technologies such as SLT, SDI, Data Services, Big Data Hub, BW/4HANA. The focus of the thesis/work could include
e.g. Building a Source - specific adapter in SDI framework (Java) or model an end-to-end dataflow based on social media data.

In the course of the 6 months-stay in our office in St. Leon-Rot, it should be possible to get an overview on some of the tools and then build a prototypical implementation based on the previously done research.
Your tasks involve creating specific scenarios, integrating different data sources into an analytical landscape and possibly designing a way how to incorporate the scenario into business operations.  
You will be accompanied by a senior member of the team to get an overview of the current product landscape of 
SAP and its strategical direction. This research is a great opportunity to learn about SAPs business software universe and data transformation landscapes. Dive in to the world of Big Data and data integration with the analytical methods of HANA and BW/4HANA.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
SAP Digital Business Services is looking for a thesis student (f/m/d) on the finishing of his current studies of computer science or similar, with a tendency for technical detail. The applicant (f/m/d) should have basic knowledge of database systems and data analysis. SAP uses a broad pallet of programming languages, it will not be necessary to be an expert in these but at least understand the notions behind them and to be able to adopt them willingly. Since it will be necessary to rely on the knowledge of other departments, building networks and being an outgoing person should be a strong suit, in order to acquire the necessary details. 

• Student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences
• Preferred fields of study: Informatics or Mathematics
• Computer skills: basic overview of SAP software, SQL, programming language basics commonly used at SAP (ABAP, Java, Python…).
• Language skills: German and English     
• Soft skills: outgoing, communicative, self-reliant and team player

Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, certificate of enrollment, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships). Please describe as well your experience and skills in foreign languages and computer programs / programming languages.

WORK EXPERIENCE
A “nice to have” but not a must would be to have worked in a comparable project beforehand. Just to have a notion of implementation projects and how tools are adopted in IT-Projects. Eventually very helpful could be an activity already involving SAP software, to have a starting point in the analysis of a wide spread toolset. Extracurricular activities are always a welcomed asset for an application, showing a strong sense of direction and self-engagement.
