PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

We’re looking for a working student to handle the scheduling & preparation of workshops & special events at the AppHaus Berlin, as well as ensuring that the “creative space” & office facilities are kept running smoothly.

The AppHaus is a global team of design consultants that works closely with SAP customers to “humanize software experience through design”. We apply User-Centered Design & Design Thinking techniques to modern business challenges of our customers.

Our customers are some of the most recognized companies & brands from around the world. They come from a wide variety of industries & markets.

Our projects frequently involve innovative new technologies & business models, such as “Internet of Things”, chatbots, Machine Learning & Big Data (to name just a few).

The team also runs several “co-innovation spaces” around the world, where SAP experts work together with customers to create innovative new products & services.  The AppHaus location in Berlin includes a modern, fully-equipped Design Thinking space of 140 sqm, as well as permanent office space for our local design team.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

The job includes a wide range of activities that require clear communication skills, excellent organizational skills, & careful attention to detail.  The main part of your job will be to support the operational administration of workshops in the AppHaus Berlin.

This includes:

  • Communicating with customers (internal & external to SAP) to define workshop needs
  • Booking & scheduling the workshops
  • Making preparations & setting up for workshops (nametags, sign-in sheets, printed materials, arrange furniture, order catering, etc.)
  • Welcoming our visitors with a friendly smile, helping hands & open ears
  • Documenting workshops & design projects (taking photos, videos & audio, or scanning documents, etc.)
  • Purchasing, maintaining & keeping track of materials for the office & the creative space

Additionally, you may be occasionally asked to:

  • support the team with online research about focused topics
  • help with moderation during a Design Thinking workshop
  • assisting with the team’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc)
  • create & execute ideas for team building (such as movie nights, or after-work activities in the office, etc.)
  • create & execute ideas for improving our work environment
  • evaluate & present a summary of new working techniques or tools
  • proof-read or translate documents in English or German
  • printing posters & documents
  • clean whiteboards, when a customer fails to clean up after themselves
  • create a service ticket, if something breaks
  • test software prototypes for a project

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Student at a university or a university of applied sciences
  • Preferred field(s) of study: Business Administration, Event Management, Design Thinking
  • Computer skills: MS Office (mandatory), Adobe Photoshop / InDesign / Illustrator (optional)
  • Language skills: Excellent German & English skills, also in writing (mandatory)
  • Soft skills: Team player, curious & involved, creative, self-motivated, reliable, good communication & presentation skills, self-confident and assertive
  • Other: Motivated person who is able to work independently, enjoys working with people and also feels free to express her/his opinion

Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships). Please describe as well your experience and skills in foreign languages and computer programs/ programming languages.
