Leo Education Innovations is a social enterprise start up based in Victoria, Vancouver Island, Canada. LEO addresses through transformational, experiential, empowering educational programs with global perspective the lack of personalized learning and purpose driven educational work by giving youth the chance to use their passions and callings to improve our world. LEO is offering programs that are focusing on passion based mentorship, and transform youth to take on leadership roles in their own communities. LEO is currently developing a transformational environmental education, conflict resolution, peace-building, leadership, and social enterprise education program for German teenagers that will take place for 15 days on Vancouver Island, Canada. In this program teenagers will be prepared to run their own mini-social enterprises upon return in their communities in Germany. We are intending to conduct market research with our target audience between April 2017 and June 2017 to improve and modify our program offering and to test some of the assumption of our theory of change/Logic model.

We are aiming to engage teenagers in Berlin-based schools in aiding us to develop our transformative leadership and social enterprise education program. The successful candidate will be leading these Teen-Consultants.

LEO is driven by the desire to innovate educational models and provide programming that has never been done before. We are looking for an open minded, driven, intern and as the internship is unpaid, will provide ample opportunity for professional growth.

As LEO is working primarily in empowerment and leadership education we will provide, if the candidate desires, ample opportunity for mentorship and coaching and the successfull candidate will be able to gain valuable cross-cultural work experience.


Responsibilities

  • Conducting innovative educational and market research in schools through creative focus groups, interviews, and surveys.
  • Engagement and work with two teen consultants in Berlin-based schools and deliver Educational Program Design
  • Leading creative program design sessions with Teen consultants and teenagers.
  • Editing and translation work
  • Outreach and relationship building with Berlin-based schools.
  • Research into innovative market research solutions.
  • Assist in development of focus groups and other market-research tools.


Deliverables of Market

Research Internship

Educational Research:
Two focus groups, each 1 hour with youth (Age 14-19)
One focus group with parents, educators, and professionals working in environmental education
Two interviews

Market Research


Two focus groups, each 1 hour with youth (Age 14-19)
One held in inner city, one preferably in countryside

One 2-hour focus group held with parents (3 couples) that are parents of teenager(s) (age 14-19) 2 interviews


Surveys (Educational and
Market Research combined)

100 completed surveys by parents with teenagers
20 surveys completed by teachers/educators working with teenagers (age 14-19)
300 completed surveys with youth (Age 14-19)


Duration and Commitment


The Marketresearch internship will take place between April 17th and June 31st,
2017.

The time commitment is around 150 hours.

The successful candidate has to be available on weekends and late afternoons
for Skype meetings.

Remuneration


Unpaid. Budget for internship activities provided.

The successful candidate will be able to gain professional work experience and will be able to benefit from ongoing coaching and mentorship if desired from
their supervisor in Canada.

LEO will provide in depth training and supervision and will work closely with the successful candidate in integrating their internship into their other professional or educational pursuits.

LEO

is interested in working with Master's Students that could envision in using
this internship for their course requirements or Research project/thesis.
