Working Student- Finance- 12 months, part-time Job Description Reporting to the Regional Finance Director, the Finance Student Placement will support the Vertex’s finance organization supporting the Europe East Region planning and analytics activities, as we prepare for commercialization of two products. As an individual contributor, he/she will assist in coordinating the monthly planning meetings and operating reviews, and will support various finance and business analytics projects within the Europe East Region. Primary Responsibilities For a number of Vertex companies, currently covering countries including but not limited to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Poland: • Assist in coordinating the monthly forecast operating reviews, in partnership with key business, finance and accounting stakeholders; develop key insights across the forecasts and scenarios. • Provide the demand forecast for the countries in scope. • Support the monthly close process, including accruals and continuous training to local teams. • Actively integrate our corporate planning activities with various business leaders. • Support the Long Range Planning process. • Prepare briefing materials for senior management. • Be a team member in Vertex’s financial and business data warehouse and financial and business reporting implementation projects. • Develop and maintain the Sales Analytics process, metrics and reporting. • Develop / integrate metrics for tracking company performance budgets and forecasts versus goals, preparing and presenting KPIs for both revenue and expenses. • Collaborates cross functionally within Finance and Accounting to ensure consistent and accurate use of financial data. • Identifies and actively participates in process improvement projects and ad hoc analyses as requested. Minimum Qualifications • A Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business discipline with an advanced degree in Business or Economics. • Strong experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or health care industries performing financial planning, sales forecasting, business analytics, or consulting roles. • Experience conducting complex analytic assignments in a fast-paced environment. • Advanced knowledge of English and German languages. • Immatrikulationsbescheinigung - Certificate of matriculation Preferred Qualifications • A solid understanding of financial valuation techniques as well as experience evaluating alternative investment opportunities and business strategies. • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, identify key issues and value drivers, and translate strategic insights into an appropriate analytic framework. • A track record of proactively identifying problems and gaining consensus on potential solutions. • Good facilitation skills. • Expertise with Excel. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Advanced knowledge and proficiency of MS Excel (including VBA Macros), MS PowerPoint and financial planning and reporting systems (SAP BPC, OB)
