PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES 
SAP ABAP Platform stands for SAP's technology layer that is used by over 12 million people in 120 countries. In small and agile development teams, we innovate on programming models, higher-level application services and development environments to make SAP the best-run enterprise software on all supported cloud and on-premise platforms.
As a central part of our technology we offer developers from SAP, partners and customers several tools and frameworks for developing highly efficient business applications. As an integral part of the platform’s development environment it includes ABAP Developemt Tools and the ABAP RESTful Programming Model.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
We are looking for a smart, motivated and talented language/translation student with a strong quality and user oriented mindset who wants to work besides her or his studies in an inspirational learning and working environment. We offer you a working student contract as a part-time job assignment of at least six months. During this time you will work in our offices with close mentorship by SAP development teams. You will work as a language/copy editor and translator on our developer-oriented documentation, especially on its improvements of English style. 

You will:

  • Ensure that the user assistance (UA) deliverables such as the user and programming guides are of high quality, adhere to SAP’s standards and guidelines, and are written in appropriate style and tone for the sotware developers as target audience
  • Get involved in detail with our content management systems like IXIASOFT/DITA
  • Act as a proofreader and copy editor for technical contents who will support us to improve the usability, the readability, and the linguistic correctness of our documentation
  • Act as a contact person for defining terminology (for English and German) that is simple, consistent and conforms to industry standards
  • Perform reviews and language checks for user interfaces in the area of ABAP development tools in close collaboration with the development teams.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Preferable language/translation student for bachelor/master degree
  • Strong skills and fluency in English and German
  • The ability to express complex technical information in a clear and precise manner
  • Strong interest in copy editing of technical texts written by English non-native speakers  
  • The ability to learn new skills at short notice and deliver on time in high quality  
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Experience of MS Office applications, especially MS Word and MS PowerPoint 
  • Interest in software engineering and programming 

 Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, certificate of enrollment, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships). Please also describe your experience and skills in foreign languages and computer knowledge.
