PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Our team has the mission to design and develop a massively scalable and extremely fast data management system for Big Data. Besides cluster and landscape management, it includes engines like relational or graph engines as well as distributed query processing.
A central part of the system is a serverless infrastructure for data flow execution based on containers and Kubernetes. On top of this infrastructure we develop our next generation tools like image processing, statistical processing, machine learning, and others.

We are looking for students to bring their budding talents to the SAP HANA Research & Development team.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
As a student (f/m/d) in our team you will be working with a group of exceptionally talented and motivated colleagues.
We offer a lot of different topics for our students.
Examples include:

• Enhance and improve Big Data storage formats
• Automatic Drone Controlling
• Raspberry Pi Cluster for distributed systems
• Integration of SAP Geographic Information System Library into SAP Vora
• Evaluation of Apache Arrow and integration into SAP Vora
• Use specific hardware technologies to improve SQL processing
• Image Processing Library for SAP Pipeline Engine
• Setting up a weekly programming challenge for the team
• App for learning chess on Android and SAP Data Hub

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Currently enrolled as student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences
• Preferred field(s) of study: Computer Science or related fields
• Computer skills:  C++, Java/Scala, JavaScript, Python, or Golang
• Language skills: fluent English or German
• Soft skills: Ability to work in a multi-national and multi-cultural team

Please describe your experience and skills in foreign languages and computer programs / programming languages.
